Research in UPRM-Mechanical Engineering Department is conducted in the areas of Machine Design and Thermal Science. The Machine Design area is compose of the Design, Manufacturing and Materials groups. The Thermal Science area is compose of the Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Dynamics groups. The Department has many research facilities including a State of the Art Solar Testing Facility, Mechanical System Response Laboratory, a sophisticated Instrumentation Laboratory, Heat and Mass Transfer Research Laboratory, a Mechanical Testing Facility, a -Laser Holography System and a Rapid Solidification Facility. Also, workstations for computer based applications and several computer based data acquisition and analysis systems are available. The Department encourages research and development in areas of interest to the engineering faculty,local industry, and federal and/or local government.
